Background

Hamburg-Köln-Express is a "value" passenger rail service operating since July 2012 between Cologne and Hamburg, with travel times as fast as the IC train, reaching a maximum speed of 100 mph (160 kmh). Journey time is a little over 4 hours over the 280 mile (450 km) main line with intermediate stops at Osnabrück, Münster, Gelsenkirchen, Essen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf.

Effective December 2015, HKX runs passenger rail service to Frankfurt/Main station, serving stops in the main stations of Bonn, Koblenz, and Bingen (Rhein).

Tickets are available online or by calling the HKX service center in Cologne at +49 (0)180 6 459 459.

HKX is a joint venture between RDC Deutschland, Locomore Rail of Berlin, and British-Canadian investor and advisor Michael Schabas.
