RDC is represented in Germany by three companies:  the holding company RDC Deutschland GmbH (RDC-D), and the two operating companies:  Hamburg-Köln-Express GmbH (HKX) and RDC AUTOZUG Sylt GmbH.

Incorporated since January 2009, RDC Deutschland GmbH (RDC-D) is privately-owned by RDC and has branch offices in Hamburg and Niebüll. RDC-D acquired and refurbished a fleet of ex-ÖBB 4010 passenger coaches for use in Germany.

Since July 2012, RDC-D has been operating the open access intercity passenger service Hamburg-Köln Express GmbH (HKX) between Cologne and Hamburg. In December 2015 through services to Frankfurt am Main were operated on a 6-month trial service. Since March 2018 FlixTrain handles development, sales and marketing of the Hamburg-Köln route, while RDC-D partner BTE handles operations and fleet management.

In February 2016, RDC-D founded RDC AUTOZUG Sylt GmbH as the first privately-owned railway company to offer train service for passengers and their cars between the German mainland and the island of Sylt. The modified cars for the Niebüll/Westernland/Sylt route received their homologation by the Federal Railway Authority (EBA), and trial operation runs will begin in the Spring 2016.

In May 2016, RDC-D entered a partnership with BTE BahnTouristikExpress GmbH (BTE), a private passenger rail charter provider in Germany, for joint pasenger rail ventures. BTE owns 31 coaches and 3 locomotives and has 20 years' experience in the German market.

On December 16, 2016, BTE AutoReiseZug night car train service was relaunched between Hamburg-Altona and Lörrach (near Basel, Switzerland) after being abandoned by DB. The train consists of sleeping cars, couchette coaches, car carriers and dining car. It operates on a seasonal timetable and is designed to reduce fuel costs and stress for the approximate 900 km (560 mi) north-south drive to the Swiss border.
